Arizona State University Technology Office’s third annual ASU Data Conference is on November 19, 2019! This event brings together data practitioners of various experience levels and specializations to share data innovations, develop skills, and recognize achievements.The focus for this year’s conference is Passion and Perseverance —a key theme for data practitioners — and participants select from 25 sessions to tailor the conference to their goals. Sessions that might be of interested to the RA Community include:

  • Overview of Financial Data Warehouse & Reports in Analytics: This presentation will be focused on a walk through of fact & dimension tables, user experience views and upcoming changes to these DW objects. We will also cover a few Analytics reports that are available for reviewing financial data outside of Workday.
  • Power Query 101 – For the Data Apprentice: In this session, we will be doing a hands on training of how to use Power Query with curated datasets. This session will have demonstrations and then time to do labs. You will need to bring a laptop for this session, or partner with a “buddy” who has a laptop
  • Data 101: Does data confuse you? What is data anyway? Do people use acronyms that are confusing? Why is data so hard? If these questions describe you, then this session is the right one for you. In this session we will go over the basics of data, what it is, why it’s so complicated and what all of the acronyms and terms mean.
