Follow-Up to RA Seminar: New HHS Salary Cap Monitoring Process

General Questions

When will the new HHS Salary Cap Monitoring Process being?

The process will begin with a review of the Summer 2020 Semester. The report will be sent out on October 23, 2020 and must returned no later than November 20, 2020.

How often will units be asked to complete the HHS Salary Cap Report?

Units will be asked complete the HHS Salary Report three times per year, one time for each semester: Spring, Summer and Fall.

How long will units have to complete and return the HHS Salary Cap Report?

The form should be returned within four weeks.

Who can sign the HHS Salary Cap Report?

The Research Advancement Manager, Business Operations Manager or HR representative would be appropriate to sign.

Will all investigators exceeding the HHS Salary Cap be required to complete the HHS Salary Cap Report?

No. The report is only required for investigators who 1)exceed the HHS Salary Cap and 2)are receiving compensation from an HHS-funded sponsored project.

Can units use funding from non-HHS sponsored accounts to cover salary over the HHS cap?

No. Salary over the HHS cap should be covered by non-sponsored funding.
