As announced on Monday, 7/6/2020, FY 2021 ERE rates are now loaded into ERA and functioning properly.
The Salaries, Wages, and ERE page has been updated with the new ERE rates.
For proposals submitted with old ERE rates – if a copy of the corresponding (older version of our) rate agreement is needed, please contact RAhelp@asu.edu or your assigned Proposal GCO.
Any proposals to be submitted on or after July 21, 2020 must use the 7/1/2020 effective date (which will apply the FY21 ERE rates).
The ERA Team is working to implement the FY 2021 Employee Related Expenses (ERE) rates, which have been approved by DHHS.
For planning purposes, below is the anticipated timeline:
• 7/1/2020 (tomorrow) – Once loaded in ERA tonight, the FY21 ERE rates will be automatically applied to proposals created on or after Wednesday, July 1, 2020.
Note: Proposals created prior to July 1st will not automatically update to the FY21 rates, but users will be able to update the ERE Rate effective date manually.
• 7/16/2020 – Any proposals submitted on or after July 16, 2020 must use the 7/1/2020 effective date (which will apply the FY21 ERE rates).
DHHS is currently reviewing the FY21 ERE Rate Proposal. The ASU Office of Planning & Budget is in the process of responding to a request for additional documentation related to certain items (due June 10th).
Last year ASU received a signed rate agreement at the beginning of July. This is typically the timeframe we receive this document each year.
Original News Post, 01/17/2020:
The ASU Office of Planning & Budget has prepared and submitted ASU’s FY2021 *ERE Rate Proposal to the US Department of Health & Human Services (DHHS).
DHHS typically begins their review in the Spring, and ASU should have approved rates for FY21 by June 2020.
It is anticipated that ERE rates will decrease in most categories, however DHHS has discouraged ASU from using proposed rates early.
Once the rates have been negotiated and approved, ASU and DHHS will sign a new rate agreement. Research Operations will implement the new rates in **ERA, etc. at that time. Until then, please continue to use the ERE rates outlined on the Salaries, Wages, and ERE page in all proposal budgets.
