When a proposal is responding to a *Funding Opportunity Announcement (FOA), which is typically the case for most federal and charitable grant proposals, it is critical that the FOA be identified in the ERA Funding Proposal (FP). Providing the FOA in the FP site allows the assigned Proposal Grant + Contract Officer (GCO), department reviewers, and post-award stakeholders downstream to appropriately support and manage proposals and awards.
A best practice is to include a link to the FOA as well as a PDF upload of the FOA on FP SmartForm 1.4.2 (or 1.4.1) Funding Opportunity Announcement. Having both the link AND a PDF of the FOA is ideal, as the link may become broken and/or the sponsor’s website may be updated or changed. The PDF provides a record of the guidelines and terms that apply to the proposal (and resulting award).
*The term ‘Funding Opportunity Announcement (FOA)’ is used throughout ASU’s work instructions and online resources to refer to the sponsor’s guidelines for proposal submission. The sponsor may refer to the FOA in different terms, including: Call for Proposals, Request for Proposals (RFP), Solicitation, Broad Agency Announcement (BAA), Request for Applications (RFA), Notice of Funding Opportunity (NOFO), Proposal Guidelines, etc.
